The spring gathering for 2017 will be held March 22-24, 2017 at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Fargo. The Executive Board and General Membership Meetings will be held on the 22nd.
Thursday, March 23rd, features not only a class on the 2015 IFC and IBC fire protection systems provisions but that evening there will be a reception for the NDBOA building officials that retired in the previous year.
Friday will focus on the legal aspects of code administration. Lunch will be provided both days. Details and the registration form are attached below.
As part of the NDBOA’s commitment to fostering a robust and knowledgeable building trade in North Dakota, they awarded their first scholarships for high school students going into a building-related field of study. Haley Hugelen and Garrett Goldader were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship in May, 2015.
NDBOA will be offering two scholarships to ICC’s 2015 Annual Business Meeting and Code Hearings in Long Beach, California this September. Details are in the attached application. These must be submitted no later than July 1, 2015 for consideration.

The 2013 Annual Meeting of the North Dakota Building Officials Association featured the election of the new slate of officers. Pictured here are, from left, Bruce Taralson of Fargo, retiring Past President; Todd Johnson of Wahpeton, the new Past President; Christine Rose of Fargo, President; Steve Johnson of Grand Forks, Vice President; and Shawn Oradnik of Bismarck, Secretary-Treasurer. Others elected to the Board of Directors were Darrael Zaback, at-large representative; Doug Lalim, southwest representative; and Scott Boura, northeast representative. The three-day conference was held in Bismarck. The membership meeting included planning for the spring training event April 2-4, 2014 in Grand Forks and the next Annual Meeting in Fargo on September 10-12, 2014.
The City of Minot and the State Electrical Board have lost the dedicated services of Ross Rubelke, the electrical inspector for the City of Minot for 17 years. Mr. Rubelke retired in January, 2014 for health reasons. All of NDBOA wishes him the best and would like to thank him for his dedication.
Congratulations to long-time Minot Building Official Darrell Linnertz. He retired on June 12, 2013 and his office went all-out for his send-off. You can see pictures of both cakes and Mr. Linnertz himself on the home page but here’s a shot of his “permit to retire”.

“Since 2009, the Members of ICC Upper Great Plains Region III have worked on a Habitat for Humanity home. In years past, the Chapter had a much larger group, but this year to save travel time and money the Chapter split its group. Some went to Minnesota and some to Wisconsin.
