The 2013 Annual Meeting of the North Dakota Building Officials Association featured the election of the new slate of officers. Pictured here are, from left, Bruce Taralson of Fargo, retiring Past President; Todd Johnson of Wahpeton, the new Past President; Christine Rose of Fargo, President; Steve Johnson of Grand Forks, Vice President; and Shawn Oradnik of Bismarck, Secretary-Treasurer. Others elected to the Board of Directors were Darrael Zaback, at-large representative; Doug Lalim, southwest representative; and Scott Boura, northeast representative. The three-day conference was held in Bismarck. The membership meeting included planning for the spring training event April 2-4, 2014 in Grand Forks and the next Annual Meeting in Fargo on September 10-12, 2014.

Rubelke Retires from Minot Electrical Inspections
Darrell Linnertz Retires
Congratulations to long-time Minot Building Official Darrell Linnertz. He retired on June 12, 2013 and his office went all-out for his send-off. You can see pictures of both cakes and Mr. Linnertz himself on the home page but here’s a shot of his “permit to retire”.

Region III Group Helps Habitat for Humanity

“Since 2009, the Members of ICC Upper Great Plains Region III have worked on a Habitat for Humanity home. In years past, the Chapter had a much larger group, but this year to save travel time and money the Chapter split its group. Some went to Minnesota and some to Wisconsin. Those who volunteered at the Mankato, Minnesota, site are pictured from left: Patrick Parsley, Susan Hoese, Doug Hoese, Christine Rose, Larry Huff and Ron Hoover.”
Arizona Building Officials’ Raffle
Ray LaHaye from the Arizona Building Officials sent this thank you to the NDBOA and several other chapters from around the country. The group intends the raffle to help offset the costs they will incur in hosting the ICC annual business meeting October 30-November 3, 2011.

2011 Region III Educational Institute
The time is upon us to register for the 2011 ICC Upper Great Plains Region III Educational Institute. The upcoming Institute features topics of interest to all building design, construction and inspection professionals. Separate tracks provide a week-long course of education for everyone. The institute also provides an excellent opportunity for networking, sharing experiences and solving problems with colleagues.

NDBOA Member Featured
Minot member Darryl Linnertz was featured by the Minot Daily News in a recent article on the growth his city has enjoyed for the past several years.
North Dakota State Building Code Adopted
At the September 15 and 16, 2010 meetings in Bismarck, the North Dakota Department of Commerce Division of Community Services made their final decisions regarding the proposed amendments to the State Building Code. The new version based around the 2009 editions of the International Codes will go into effect on January 1, 2011.
The State Electrical Board and State Plumbing Board maintain their respective codes as well.
NDBOA Past-President Attends Meeting
Past-President Ray Ziegler attended the annual conference of the North Dakota League of Cities September 23-25, 2010 in Bismarck. Stay tuned for details from Mr. Ziegler.
