Fall 2018 Seminar Details
The NDBOA Fall, 2018 seminar will be held September 19th-21st at the Sleep Inn & Suites in Minot. The Executive Board and General Business Meetings will be held the afternoon of Wednesday, the 19th, and continuing education offered that Thursday and Friday. Lunch is included for both education days. The courses offered are as follows:

ICC Annual Business Meeting Scholarships
NDBOA is offering two matching scholarships to members who have been awarded a Code of Honor Scholarship to attend the ICC’s Annual Conference in Richmond, VA this October. For more details and to apply, download the ABM Scholarship Application. The deadline to apply is July 31, 2018. You may apply for the Code of Honor Scholarships from May 28-August 10, 2018.
NDBOA Offers College Scholarship

Spring, 2018 Meeting and Education Details
The Spring, 2018 meeting will be held March 21st-23rd at the Quality Inn and Conference Center (formerly the Comfort Inn) in Bismarck. The Executive Board and General Membership meetings will be held at 1:00pm and 3:00pm on the 21st.
Thursday, March 22nd – 2015 IBC Means of Egress
This seminar addresses numerous provisions in the 2015 IBC where the code contains requirements pertaining to establishing a means of egress in buildings. Attendees will be presented with specific problems related to means of egress and asked to solve each case study. The course is intended to help plan reviewers to determine compliance with the IBC.
Friday, March 23rd – 2015 Residential Deck Construction and 2015 Inspector Skills
This half?day seminar introduces basic design and construction methods for single?story residential wood decks. The vertical and lateral load paths of conventional residential decks are now addressed in the 2015 International Residential Code.
Developed specifically for construction inspectors in all disciplines, the topics covered are equally important to all employees of public service agencies, including permit technicians, plan reviewers, managers, building officials, and fire code officials.
The instructor both days is Alex “Cash” Olszowy. ICC Continuing Education Credits are available both days and all courses include workbooks. Class runs from 8AM-4PM and lunch is provided both days.

The Fall, 2017 meeting will be held October 18th-20th at the Ramada Grand Dakota Hotel & Conference Center in Dickinson. The Executive Board and General Membership meetings will be held at 1:00 and 3:00 on the 18th.
Thursday, October 19th – 2015 IBC Use of Fire & Smoke Separations
This class will go over when and where firewalls are required and what the difference is between firewalls, fire barriers and fire partitions. Also covered are smoke barriers and smoke partitions along with penetrations and opening protection.
Friday, October 20th – 2015 IBC Accessibility & Usability for Commercial Buildings
This seminar focuses on the minimum requirements for new or existing construction of accessible commercial facilities for compliance with the 2015IBC and ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. It addresses the design, plan review and inspection of commercial buildings to ensure that people with physical impairments, visual impairments and hearing impairments can use the facilities.
The instructor for both classes is Doug Thornburg. ICC Continuing Education Credits are available both days, includes workbooks. Class runs from 8AM-4PM and lunch is provided both days.

Spring, 2017 Meeting and Education Details
The spring gathering for 2017 will be held March 22-24, 2017 at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Fargo. The Executive Board and General Membership Meetings will be held on the 22nd.
Thursday, March 23rd, features not only a class on the 2015 IFC and IBC fire protection systems provisions but that evening there will be a reception for the NDBOA building officials that retired in the previous year.
Friday will focus on the legal aspects of code administration. Lunch will be provided both days. Details and the registration form are attached below.
