2012 IBC – Performing Nonstructural Plan Reviews
This two-day seminar will help participants better understand and apply the requirements of the 2012 International Building Code (IBC®) regarding the knowledge of performing a nonstructural plan review. When you complete this seminar, you will be able to determine whether a given set of building plans complies with the outlined requirements of the 2012 IBC.

The topics covered in this course are not all inclusive. Selected topics that mirror the plan review record are included and additional topics applicable to most construction projects are covered.

Instructor: Mike Giachetti has been with ICC for 11 years and is currently a senior staff engineer in ICC’s Chicago Regional Office Plan Review Department.

Most of his activities involve supervision of the plan review department.
In addition to his supervisory duties, he performs architectural and structural plan reviews of commercial and residential structures, provides interpretations of the International Codes, and assists with the development and updating of the codes. He teaches several building code seminars including Nonstructural and Structural Plan Review, Fundamentals of the International Building Code and Solving Means of Egress.

Previously, he has been the instructor for an on-line class on Residential and Non-Residential Plan Review for Red Rocks Community College in Colorado. He previously served as part of the ASTM D07 committee which was involved with wood analysis. He also served as part of the committee for the development of the International Existing Building Code. He holds both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
