October 13, 2004 General Membership Meeting

Motion to approve March meeting minutes – by Rich Barta, 2 nd by Gary Klundt

Motion to approve Treasurers Report – by Paul Arends, 2 nd by Mark Housel

Legislative Report – Rich Barta reported that the League of Cities will introduce a bill for restructuring cities liabilities dealing with Building Officials.

Old Business – March 9, 10, 11 in Fargo, no topic has been decided, a survey has been handed out and everyone was encouraged to fill it out.

Rich Barta attended the National Business meeting in Salt Lake City. Rich mentioned there were 37 sessions and very well attended. Topics ranged from mold to means of egress. The spring conference will be in Cincinnati Ohio and the fall conference will be in Detroit Michigan.

State adoption of the 2003 code has been put into effect as of October 3, 2004.

Ron Strand has been appointed as the Regional Rep., three representatives were asked for but only one has been appointed at this time.

Don Offerdahl gave a brief outline of the adoption of the 2005 Electrical Code, which will go into effect April 3, 2005.

New Business – The annual fall meeting will be in Minot October 5, 6, & 7, a topic has not been decided.

New Regional Reps are: NW – Ron Fetting from Killdeer, SE – Gary Klundt from Jamestown, At Large – Bruce Tolefson from Fargo, Motion to accept by Chris Rose, 2 nd by Jerome Miller.

Updating of the website – Motion was made by Rich Barta, 2 nd by Paul Arends to allocate funds to Vision Tec to redesign the website.

It was also agreed upon to fore go the radio adds for building safety week, which amounted to $2,000 annually and the money could be diverted to the cost of the website.

Annual Membership – It was agreed upon by the Executive Board to enact the $25.00 fee effective Jan 1, 2005. It was also pointed out that in order to make any other changes that the by laws would have to be changed. Motioned by Rich Barta, 2 nd by Chris Rose to look into charging a membership fee according to the population and present it at the March meeting.

Bill Shaumberg from the ICC gave a short presentation and an open invitation for whatever help he can provide.

A Lifetime Membership plaque was presented to Rolland Belgrade for all his years of service and a Past President plaque to Mark Lange.
