At the September 15 and 16, 2010 meetings in Bismarck, the North Dakota Department of Commerce Division of Community Services made their final decisions regarding the proposed amendments to the State Building Code. The new version based around the 2009 editions of the International Codes will go into effect on January 1, 2011.

This fall’s Construction Technology Trade Show, sponsored by the NDBOA, the Upper Great Plains Region III Chapter of the ICC, and the North Dakota Association of Builders, will be held October 7, 2010 from 4PM-8PM at the Doublewood Inn in Fargo, North Dakota. Paul Tosto at Minnesota Public Radio has cited an increase in the number of construction jobs in North Dakota in opposition to tough economic times for contractors in Minnesota based on a report from the Associated General Contractors of America.
Time Magazine has published an article about Bismarck and North Dakota in general entitled The Town the Recession Missed. The article mentions the strength of Bismarck’s housing market and the low unemployment rate that North Dakota has enjoyed in contrast with most of the nation.
